The First Day of Spring is not the first day of Spring.
That day was still Winter. The first day of Spring
is when you step out at dawn and the air sings
with the strangest sound of bird song, when tips
of green score new found earth and that which
you stand on seems ready to burst; when you
open the door after dinner and the evening calls
with sweet air and the start of something new.
You walk outside, join a crowd of people,
who, like you, heard a call and answered.
Evening light is soft, mute, a limitless blend
of blue and forever as stars blossom and sky
sighs a promise of beginning, and you feel
that everything is possible, anything can happen,
the world and all within it is new and renewed
and you feel all of it happen within you.
