He guarded me. Laughed with me and made me laugh.
He hugged me, inspired me, awed me and made me proud.
Stood up for us, looked up for us, made us look down and explore the ground as well as the skies around.
He carried us across many a river. Drove cars for us, got lost with us and then helped us find our way. He taught me how to read a compass, orient my way and find edible wilds. To jar jams and brew interesting concoctions, teas and drinks and pickled watermelon sugars.
He showed me where the North Star hung always motionless never changing in its crowded domain there just off the Bear, which we call the Dipper. He philosophized with me and then laughed with me to not take is so seriously with a wink and a glint and a kiss and a smile.
He led the way down steep winter hills on skis and told me it was okay to be afraid. Led me down forest paths, with bear bells and rose hips for tea. Up roads and cross countries, hikes thru fields and times on the lakes and down south and across historic Seas.
He taught me things each day about poetry, music, art and we laughed at my attempts at Comedy and he cried at my Drama which he always loved and I think of him when I see these familiars and dwell in the thoughts of his poetry and the distant memories. Brother, confidante, consigliere, Poet, actor, singer songster, Son and Father, gone now but always remembered cause he left us all with something strong.

yes
these
moments
of brief poetry.

(tracks in the snow
of a remembered winter..)

city
stacatto
in poem image

the fast
clip crack
of the subway
ripping down underground

a torn
poster corner
flapping in the wind
of streetcars and cabs

an old man
in chemical solitude
awaiting loose changes

crisp winter sun
and daffodil ice
while walking thru the park
to my lover’s

liquid yellow and silver
at the corner of my vision

a streetcar hiss and whine
on metal streaked cold spring
lines wires cars an steel
and there /        daffodil ice

daffodil ice

Once upon a time
I waited for you
the light changed and grew
Over the marbled mansion tops
and chimney pots then fell
to westering in all its island glory.

And once..
‘pon a time
You stood looking for me
Across the port and an azured sea
The ships all pressed against each and other
At rest and lee
On this storied and Ancient quay.

Then once…
Upon another time
From upon a sunned and sea bound isle
We watched Poseidons wine dark sea
We dreamed and sat awhile.

At last upon the final time
A’pondering our myths
then answering other questions
T’was mighty Poseidons dream
We laughed in a rapturous extreme
While calling out for more
there by the Ulyssean shore.

I’m a Star Walker
But, I know what’s right and I know what’s Wrong boyo
I’m a Kid with a Dream
I’m a Shout and a Scream
I’m an Heir to Greatness
And, I know what’s Right and I know what’s Wrong boyo
I’m in you

So now…Watch out boyo..

I come to you as a desert horseman
You the oasis, I the thirst

I come to you as a sailor
This being my favourite port of call

I come to you as the working bee
and you the nectared flower.

I come to you for gentle times
Your balm a soothing ease

shift of muscle
turns on bone
the extreme and animal grace
in the hand extended
the body like water
she dances
under stars
the enchantment
of the slow movement
watching
the enchantment
evoke the movement
of stars
the turn of earth
the pull and ebb
of space
that dances in fashion
all contained
in the hand extended
the body like water
she dances
under moon
under star
she dances

I stand naked
On the brim of your bed
My skin feels full
And heavy with musk
There is a full moon
Outside the window…
Feeling my stomach

The movement of you
Beside me in the dark
The soft scent upon us
I look upon you push back covers
Yours eyes watching under petals of skin
Your mouth a crimson wound
In the peace of your face
And the moonlight coming in
Shifts silver across the bed

I take in the room
The bed
The movement
Of you beside me
In the gentle dark

Peaceful like a dream

I loved the way
You looked that day
Eye smile the sunlight
Coming in beautiful
Over your shoulder
Caressing beautiful face
Blushing your smiling lips
Eye sparkle rose dream o
You have been etched forever
An image fair in my mind
O yes I remember
The smile turn of head
As I met your mouth with mine grinning

I am here with you
We are not alone
Delusion or desire
This is neither
I love you
I want to touch you

You I am here with
This beauty beast thing
Demon at the heart
I am the loving demon at your most gentle gate.

I will not change anything
Nor do I not expect miracles
For miracle is ours
With this beauty beast thing
Delusion or desire this is neither

Sun in smile awed miracles
Delusions or not
I am here with you

I wanted to seduce you with my poetry…

I do not feel the cold when I am in your arms

Tracks in the snow of a remembered winter
Fading now/shibboleths lost/
pages of an old book long gone.

Rock piles standing just so
A tree and the way its branches blocked
The sun songs of a people that went before.

A shelter here taken
Stars having wheeled above
So many stars and a full moon
Lighting an old trail

Fading now, long gone.

Sunflower garden corner
Thick with bees
Sopophoria held at bay
By the lesser heat
of this autumnal day
Cats and flowers too
Watch us as we watch
The changing sky
The red sky
The setting sun
Blues a shade ne’er seen before Tom
Soon the shadows come tho
The first salmoned featherings
On wind swept clouds
The flowers turn inward
Slightly beginning to think
Of night

I can see you cat
There amongst the tangled stalks
The bees drone on
High above you work undone
Yet ignorant of their fading partners
And the couching reddened sun.
