Even handed

the right knows
what the left is doing
sister brother
husband wife

the walkway is built
with river stone
when it rains
it’s slippery
that’s by design
walk with supple feet

the hand is bound to the phone

you can’t afford to miss that call

the river stones
remember the water
it’s never far from them
your feet can get wet
even if the sun is shining stick to the path
otherwise, you may drown

your voyage is not complete
the way you must go
is not clear

sometimes, you must wait
you can’t always go forward
who will walk with you?
who will answer when you call?
does the left hand know
what the right hand does?

you are not alone
the way is slippery
walk with those you love
they are the ones
who will guide you

we refine ourselves
add to ourselves

help others
share love

define ourselves
through sorrows
our errors
our foolishness

These are legitimate questions, but misleading.
One must ask what will lead me to my rock?

immortality

you must be far removed
from the world of life and death
to think about
immortality

Dear home, gales have unseated us

Dear home, gales have unseated us, great winds blown
our ships from their moors, laid crops low in the fields
before harvest, undone all we sought to do, as if to prove
Nature allows no equity, only superiority.

Part of my human condition

I think about suicide daily
Not as an alternative
But part of my human condition
That reflects me as I reflect upon it

Spring blessing

Robins have made a home in our backyard.
Today, an old fat one lights upon the row
of potted nasturtiums
I placed upon the wall of the garden bed.
Light plastic pots filled with weightless potting soil,
he hops one to the other,
