my love is an ocean

my love is an ocean
deep and wide
my skies monumental
my storms, my tides
my depths may frighten you
you might imagine
I’ll drown you
drag you under

you might question your wishes
as I rise and fall
but I promise you
from the top that is never still
reflects light into prisms
transforms those into jewels
to the leviathan bottom that holds
this world in place
I only surrender to love
never play at it

I beg you, sail upon me
never fear me, dive deep into me
I will lift you, sustain you
bring you so many hidden treasures
you’ll wonder if my love can
possibly end

to which I’ll reply
time will tell
I’m only an ocean
nothing’s eternal
but I strive to impress

from the world of life and death
to think about
immortality

our ships from their moors, laid crops low in the fields
before harvest, undone all we sought to do, as if to prove
Nature allows no equity, only superiority.

Part of my human condition

I think about suicide daily
Not as an alternative
But part of my human condition
That reflects me as I reflect upon it

Spring blessing

Robins have made a home in our backyard.
Today, an old fat one lights upon the row
of potted nasturtiums
I placed upon the wall of the garden bed.
Light plastic pots filled with weightless potting soil,
he hops one to the other,
