Sunflower garden corner
Thick with bees
Sopophoria held at bay
By the lesser heat
of this autumnal day
Cats and flowers too
Watch us as we watch
The changing sky
The red sky
The setting sun
Blues a shade ne’er seen before Tom
Soon the shadows come tho
The first salmoned featherings
On wind swept clouds
The flowers turn inward
Slightly beginning to think
Of night

I can see you cat
There amongst the tangled stalks
The bees drone on
High above you work undone
Yet ignorant of their fading partners
And the couching reddened sun.
